ATTENDING THE COURSE

USE OF THE COURSE

The Finding Peace in a Frantic World course is primarily an invitation to consciously experience, and also to share your reflections about what you experience. (At the start of the course we agree within the group to maintain confidentiality about what other group members say.) Such information as is provided during the course is primarily intended to encourage you in enquiring into your experience. In this respect, the role of the course leader is as moderator and guide. You therefore responsible for your experiences and psychological state – course meetings do not involve providing psychotherapeutic support. The teacher is available between course meetings to discuss any issues relating to your mindfulness practice.

If you have ever suffered from depression, schizophrenia, psychosis or disorders of a similar nature, you should seek the advice of a suitably qualified therapist before applying for the course. If you are experiencing a particularly difficult period in your life or suffer from long-term health problems – including recurring depression or anxiety – you should make this clear on the application questionnaire [link] or, if such problems appear or intensify later, inform the course leader.

HOME PRACTICE DURING THE COURSE

The potential for benefiting from mindfulness practice in life lies in the transformation of often deeply rooted habits. For this reason, the Finding Peace in a Frantic World programme is based on the assumption that you will make every effort to practice for an average of 20 minutes a day throughout its duration. Such practice is mainly based on listening to recorded meditations; there are also other suggestions for various types of informal practice, for keeping a mindfulness diary and also reading chapters of the course book Mindfulness. A Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World (included in the price of the course).

COURSE CERTIFICATE

If you have participated in at least six of the eight course meetings, and submit a request by email (info@akademiamindfulness.pl), Akademia Minfulness will send you by email a course completion certificate.
